Iraqi authorities call for public transport to ensur safe Arbaeen pilgrimage

Shafaqna English- Iraqi authorities have issued urgent guidelines for pilgrims traveling to Karbala, advising them to rely on public transport instead of personal vehicles.
With millions of pilgrims expected to descend upon the holy city, the Supreme Security Committee for the pilgrimage emphasized the importance of using designated transport services to ensure the smooth flow of traffic and maintain order during one of the world’s largest annual religious gatherings.
Miqdad Miri, the spokesman for the Supreme Security Committee, highlighted that the city of Karbala simply does not have the infrastructure to handle a surge of private vehicles. This call for public transport aims to minimize congestion on the roads, which has been a recurring challenge during previous Arbaeen observances. The use of public transport will not only ease traffic flow but also contribute to the overall success of the security and service plans put in place for this highly anticipated pilgrimage
